Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site

Washington, TX

Project Description

As the site of the signing of the 1836 Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico, Washington on the Brazos is generally considered to be one of the three most important historic sites in Texas related to the formation of the state. The Washington on the Brazos State Park Association (WBSPA) is working to reestablish awareness of this site as central to Texas history and to the Texas "experience" with an identity that is fresh and contemporary, while honoring the past.

Dyal and Partners (now Dyal Branding & Graphics, A Page Company) created an entirely new brand and identity for the park, ensuring that they were both bold and true to the park’s roots. The identity utilizes wood-type based fonts of the historical era while imparting a freshness that may be associated with contemporary gig posters. Design elements reflect the Dodson flag that was flown at the site of the Texas Declaration of Independence signing.
