The Texas Society of Architects (TxA) is the Texas chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and has more than 6,500 members around the state. Headquartered in Austin, it is considered the “Voice for Texas Architecture.”
Dyal and Partners (now Dyal Branding & Graphics, A Page Company) led the initiative to assess and refresh TxA’s brand and identity. Working closely with the organization’s leadership and staff, the team addressed the overall institutional identity and its application to brand touchpoints, including promotional and collateral materials, website (developed by local website firm), and graphics pertaining to annual conventions.
In conjunction with the rebranding the team led the redesign of the society’s bimonthly magazine, Texas Architect, one of the most respected regional architectural publications in the country. Layouts for all page types were established, as well as typography, type hierarchy, and color palette. Dyal Branding & Graphics continues to consult on the design of Texas Architect issues.
“Imagine finding the essence of an association of wildly imaginative, enthusiastic and idiosyncratic individuals…who are architects…and hail from Texas. Then, imagine finding graphical expression that satisfied the often divergent collection of opinions that group expressed. That’s just what Herman and Carla did for the Texas Society of Architects in 2011. Though his patience in listening to us was endless, Herman gracefully led us in a remarkably expeditious and highly effective process. He composed a new family of logos and a strategy for color and typology that helped us coordinate our vast array of our printed materials, refresh our website, and redesign both the graphical and editorial content of our award-winning Texas Architect magazine. The outcome of his work is an artful visual vocabulary that clearly stakes our claim as the voice for Texas architecture.”
