The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Petroleum Institute Research Center will be the cornerstone of the ADNOC strategic Research and Development program for the 21st Century. This multidisciplinary, collaborative research and development facility will integrate classic engineering programs, targeting research to solve issues specific to Abu Dhabi petroleum reserves. Creating an inviting environment that fosters collaboration and providing secure zones for corporate research partners, while dealing with the inherent hazards of leading-edge science on an academic campus, are all challenges effectively addressed by this ambitious project.
The 310,000-square-foot, five-story facility, complete with interstitial mechanical floors, is being designed to provide flexibility in response to changing research initiatives. Modular infrastructure allows for efficient energy utilization with a phased implementation strategy. Leading-edge research programs will be accommodated in a 15-meter-tall, high voltage electrical laboratory, high-bay workrooms equipped with overhead gantry cranes, H2S suites, chemical storage and distribution, and flexible open-plan laboratories and offices.
