Located in a former atrium-style banking hall in downtown, the Page Houston office moved to its current location in 2004. In 2016, the firm embarked on a renovation that maintained the integrity of this unique work environment, one that would support future growth, inspire creativity and promote collaboration.
The project objectives were to maintain the existing footprint, increase seat count, improve collaboration through planning and technology and promote wellness in the workplace. The solution included a universal open plan layout of individual sit-stand workstations with reduced footprint.
Shared work surfaces with flat panel displays for design collaboration are dispersed throughout the office landscape. The new design provides a variety of settings for meetings ranging from formal presentations to impromptu chats. New furniture promotes ergonomics, flexibility and hospitality.
Prior to renovation, we embarked on a study of its culture, conducting surveys, focus groups and observational exercises to evaluate their use of space. This objective approach coupled with knowledge of best practices in workplace strategy promotes mobility via shared resource areas, increased density to accommodate future growth, included the addition of focus rooms for heads-down work, and upgraded technology for collaboration in meeting areas.
Relocated from inside the office to a storefront across the street, the new materials library reinforces these goals. While providing functional storage, layout, pin-up and meeting space, the library functions as a design gallery by showcasing projects in development and the latest materials to passersby.
Bold patterns, rich finishes, crisp geometries, and distinctive furnishings reflect the timeless character of the office – one that is entrepreneurial, innovative, collaborative, friendly and forward-thinking. The new space reflects the evolution of our firm’s design process, enhances users’ productivity and wellness, elevates the firm’s brand and positions the firm as an employer of choice.
