The 140,000-square-foot Science Center at the Rockville Campus of Montgomery College houses the departments of biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and geosciences, including 29 support labs. Each level of the four-story building contains science labs paired with a prep room and a recitation space, along with classrooms, and faculty offices. The building has been planned using Project Kaleidoscope principles that encourage hands-on learning. The design promotes student-faculty interaction with demonstration and recitation spaces, and displays science and technology throughout the building. The new building is a major component of the College Master Plan for the Rockville Campus.
Page/SST Planners provided lab programming and planning for the LEED Gold-certified building, which was designed by Stantec Architecture / Cho Benn Holback.
