Austin Public Radio Station KUT has been a respected source of news, information and entertainment for more than 50 years. In 2012, KUT moved its station into what is now the KUT Public Media Studios in the Belo Center for New Media at the University of Texas. As part of its capital campaign, KUT made a final push to raise remaining dollars for the build-out in an on-air fund drive, and engaged Dyal and Partners (now Dyal Branding & Graphics, A Page Company), to design a large donor wall and supporting campaign material.
The team designed a piece to wrap Studio 1B, a recording studio in the center for the space considered the “heart of the station.” The design goal was to pay tribute to the KUT supporters while displaying the linkage between individuals and their effect on the station’s livelihood. One keystone of the KUT mission is to “inform, inspire and engage while becoming the most trusted source for news, information and the Austin, Texas music experience.” Dyal Branding & Graphics strived to create a solution that would likewise inform, inspire and engage.
The collage of imagery - including a mix of photography, posters, newspaper clippings, promo materials, etc. - captures the history and vision of KUT. The inclusion of supporters’ names alongside the visual representations of KUT emphasizes the role that supporters play in the spirit and longevity of KUT.
The campaign was very successful, exceeding the fundraising goal and garnering more than 1,500 contributors’ names.
"Dyal and Partners captured and portrayed the essence of KUT in a way that surprised even us. From concept to installation, the design process was inspiring – and ultimately created a destination piece that further activates the KUT Public Media Studios. We couldn’t be happier."
