Robert Doane sees every project as a new opportunity for Page teams to collectively engage in the creative process. Through his leadership in healthcare design, Robert has contributed to the successful completion of many of Page’s award-winning healing environments throughout the world.
As a project director and Healthcare team leader with Page for more than two decades, Robert is dedicated to fostering an office environment where collaboration results in the best solution to any problem. His understanding of sustainable architecture allows for a unique integration of technology and site producing efficient buildings while preserving the environment.
As a knowledge leader in Healthcare project delivery, Robert applies Lean Principles and Six Sigma thinking to assist in developing efficient building solutions. His attention to detail and desire for excellence are attributes he enjoys that allow for complex problem solving and innovative design solutions. He has worked on numerous children’s hospitals as well as many large medical centers and healthcare campuses around the world creating healing environments that excite the senses while defining place.
Robert possesses an insatiable appetite for living life to the fullest, an attitude engendered by his love of travel. These experiences translate to his approach to work. “As we design architecture,” Robert says, “we collectively have the opportunity to continue to expand this world and make each place a little bit more special through our creations. How exciting!”
An honors graduate of Texas A&M University with a Master’s Degree in Architecture, Robert supports his alma mater by working with its Healthcare Industry Advisory Council helping the next generation of architects to understand the many challenges associated with the complex world of healthcare design. His volunteer efforts often include leading discussions on evidence-based design processes and presentations on building delivery types including Intergated Project Delivery (IPD).
Robert is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the AIA’s Academy of Architecture for Health. In addition he is a certificate holder with the American College of Healthcare Architects recognizing his design leadership within the healthcare industry. In addition, having worked with the National Health System in the United Kingdom on multiple Private Finance Initiative projects, Robert possesses an international perspective on healthcare delivery and can apply worldwide “best practices” to each project.
In an interview published in Healthcare Design magazine in March 2010, Robert explained the principal lesson he’s learned during his professional career: “I've seen the importance of going into a project with an open mind, being ready to take advantage of all the opportunities you can within the budgetary and other constraints we all work with, to find the edge and push the project ahead.”
Robert brings extensive experience in both the management and design of healthcare facilities as well as a commitment to developing innovative and high performance building solutions. With a design philosophy centered on the premise that design excellence should be reflected in every aspect of a building- its place in the community, its performance, and its relationship to both employees and patrons. This philosophy and approach results in architectural solutions that are creative, inspiring, and innovative in achieving each client’s vision.
