Brandon Townsend never imagined he would end up designing buildings as his career. As an acclaimed soccer player in his youth, Brandon had the ambitious dream of becoming a professional athlete but after tearing his ACL as a senior in high school, he lost his scholarship to play in college.
“With no college fund, I had to stay at home to save money for college. I took a job at a local architecture firm and eventually found myself in The University of Texas at Austin School Of Architecture. I worked my way through school and focused my passion for soccer into my passion of design,” Brandon explains. “This experience taught me a tremendous amount of humility while giving me confidence to achieve my goals.”
Brandon has been at Page since 2008 and has worked on and designed a variety of buildings. Recently, he led our team to the successful completion of 70 Rainey, a new luxury residential tower in downtown Austin, and he is working on another tower around the corner. When asked how commitment, creativity and collaboration—three of Page’s most important values—influence/impact his work, he answered: “To achieve truly great work, one cannot separate any of these areas. I gravitate towards creativity and feel that this is what inspires our daily tasks.”
Brandon also appreciates the impact design has on people's everyday experiences. He notes his work on the Veterans Affairs – Austin, Healthcare Clinic as an example of how he sees the significance of his work. “My grandfather is a veteran and knowing that he will have access to a great facility gives me a wonderful sense of pride," he says.
Brandon graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Texas – Austin, School of Architecture in 2001. Away from the office, Brandon is a very proud father who enjoys spending time with his two young children. He is also involved with AIA Austin and has lead several chapter committees as well as acting as the Planning Commissioner in 2016. Whenever possible, Brandon enjoys cycling and has participated in the MS-150 bike ride for many years.
