Amro Alansari is an international architect, licensed to practice in both the United States and United Arab Emirates. He combines nearly three decades of experience in the U.S., the Middle East and Africa on a variety of complex, large-scale projects across multiple market sectors.
In 1989, Amro moved to the U.S. from Kuwait to pursue his higher education in architecture. “It was my childhood dream to become an architect. I enjoyed art classes in school and creating colorful drawings.” After obtaining his graduate degree in architecture and practicing in the U.S. for 14 years, he decided to move back to the Middle East in 2005, settling in Dubai.
Of his decision, Amro explains, “I was always interested in pursuing international opportunities while working for U.S. firms. It was a perfect time as it was the start of an architectural boom in the Middle East designing and constructing mega-scale projects and building cities in the middle of the desert.”
In addition to his experience, a great deal of Amro’s success is due to his ability to effectively manage team resources by aligning project members with each other, bridging cultural gaps between stakeholders and mentoring younger employees. One of his career highlights was the establishment of the Burt Hill University in Dubai to support continuing education for young architects in the firm.
Amro’s leadership skills, knowledge of local and international codes combined with an understanding of local construction practices and bilingual fluency help him to gain clients’ trust. He has worked on a range of project types in the U.S., the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) from corporate and multifamily high rises to an exclusive residential district inspired by the private circular gardens of Bath, England, to the master plan of a 20-acre health and wellness development to a Formula One theme park and more.
He has been involved in the development and the management of projects through all phases of design, production and construction. Amro has also taken responsibility for programming, project budgeting and consultant cost coordination to ensure successful outcomes. Most recently, he has focused on the healthcare sector and business development in countries throughout MENA, including a full-service hospital in the UAE, a rehabilitation and drug addiction center in Qatar and a hospital with a related MOB and musculoskeletal rehabilitation facility in Jeddah.
At Page, Amro leads the firm’s team in the MENA region, delivering architecture, engineering and consulting services across multiple market sectors. He joined the firm from Corgan, where he served as MENA Regional Director. Prior to that, Amro returned to the Middle East with Burt Hill, Inc. as Principal-in-Charge for their Dubai office of 650 employees, which offered full architecture, engineering and support services. When Stantec later acquired the firm, Amro was promoted to Managing Leader for Middle East Operations.
A native of Kuwait and naturalized U.S. citizen, Amro received his education, including a Masters in Architecture, in the U.S. where he also began his career working for several American firms.
