America Alva, a native Texan, discovered her passion for architecture walking the shadowed, skyscraper-lined streets of New York City. With a degree in art history from the University of Texas under her belt, her goal became to create buildings in the most visually appealing way possible, while at the same time ensuring functionality and durability. She remained in New York City and received her Bachelor of Architecture from New York Institute of Technology.
The NYIT architecture program, though small, had a great impression on her career. The program took her to Berlin where her dreams of sustainable architecture were being realized. The importance of thinking sustainably at all scales was never stronger to her after that experience.
After leaving NYC, she returned to Austin to plant roots, build a family and apply green building principles to residential architecture. After several years creating environmentally responsible homes for Austenite’s and the surrounding communities, she decided it was time to take the next step and apply everything she knew to commercial projects at Page. Since joining Page 2019, America has successfully guided several projects through LEED and AEGB certification.
America is a LEED Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council, WEL AP and is licensed in the state of Texas. She is a member of CSI Austin, AIA Austin and USGBC Texas Central Chapter.
