Transforming a Parking Spot into a Living Room

Page Denver recently participated in PARK(ing) Day, an annual global event where participants collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into public places. This year our Pagers collaborated with Knoll, a modern furniture design company, to convert the space into a design living room.

The team revamped the parking spot into a cozy and eclectic living area. It was equipped with everything you need to kick back and relax. They provided multiple seating arrangements for comfort, book shelves to create an intimate space and an awkward family photo to entertain their visitors. The space even had a small desk for employees and guests who wanted to work outside during the event.

PARK(ing) Day originally began in 2005 as an art installation created by Rebar, a San Francisco art and design studio. It has since evolved into a global movement. The mission of the project is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat. Organizations and individuals from around the world participate in this event every third Friday in September, and we were glad to be a part of it this year.
