Transforming Healthcare Through Better Built Environments: ACHA Architects

At the recent American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) 2018 Summer Leadership Summit in Chicago, Page was represented by three of its four board-certified healthcare architects. ACHA certification is a niche for licensed architects who have demonstrated specialized skills and proven expertise. There are fewer than 500 architects in the United States who have achieved this, so Page has a great deal of expertise on its Healthcare roster.

Unlike some other certifying bodies, ACHA requires its holders to maintain high standards of specialized continuing education, to add to the body of knowledge and to work towards the improvement of healthcare architecture on behalf of the public. Principal Hilary Bales explains, “I got into this field because I wanted to impact people’s lives positively.” She and her ACHA-certified colleagues actively lead planning and design efforts on a variety of healthcare projects at Page in support of ACHA’s vision - transforming healthcare through better built environments.

According to ACHA, American hospitals and clinics are some of the most complex project types healthcare design professionals and owners ever address. Hilary and Beth Carroll, Robert Doane and Mattia Flabiano collectively have a century of experience among them, but continue learning and keeping up with evolutions in the industry. Two of their projects have recently opened to national attention, the Brain Performance Institute at The University of Texas at Dallas and Children’s Health Plano Specialty Center and Andrews Institute for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
