Topping Out at Lamar University
Lamar University (Texas State University System), Page and Construction Manager at Risk, SpawGlass are excited to announce the “topping out” of the Wayne A. Reaud Building at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. The construction milestone marks the completion of the steelwork on the 45,000-square-foot project.
The building will serve as the new entrance for the university’s campus. It will also house the Honors College, Human Resources, Information Technology, Executive Administration, Institutional Research and Reporting as well as a large community event space.
Lamar University is among the fastest growing Texas colleges and universities, and is a member of The Texas State University System. Its honors program has grown to an enrollment of over 400 students, and the Reaud Honors College will become the eighth honors college in Texas.
The three-story building is named after Lamar alumnus and major donor Wayne A. Reaud, who told the Beaumont Enterprise newspaper, “Lamar really gave me an opportunity that a poor kid like me would not normally have. Without it being here, I may not have gone to college.”
Page designed the facility. Construction is expected to be completed in June of 2016. The following associated design and construction companies also contributed to the project:
4b Technology, IT, Security and AV Design.
Coleman & Associates, Landscape and Irrigation Design.
Halford Busby, Cost Management.
Hill International, Program Management.
The late Jesus Moroles, Granite Sculptures
Kinzelman Art, Interior Artwork Consulting
Matrix, Structural Engineering
Spaw Glass, Construction Manager at Risk
We would also like to give special thanks to the number of people at Lamar University who have provided support beyond the project team and for the opportunity to work on the Wayne A. Reaud Building.
