Page Project Milestones in 2017

2017 was a very good year for Page and for our collaborative partners as we celebrated significant milestones on projects across a wide range of market sectors and services. Our vision – and our promise – is to create design that makes lives better and we are proud that our portfolio reflects this. Subsequent buildings at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas opened this year, the Health Transformation and the Health Discovery Buildings for which Page was the architect of record in association with ZGF Architects. The Health Learning Building, for which Page was the design architect in association with SLAM, opened in 2016 but all three recently achieved LEED Gold certification. Page also was part of the project team on the award-winning The University of Texas at Austin Medical District Master Plan that articulated the vision for the new medical district, including the first Tier One public university medical school to be built from the ground up in nearly 50 years.

Another academic and healthcare crossover project with a high-profile grand opening was The Center for BrainHealth’s Brain Performance Institute at The University of Texas at Dallas, which is getting nearly as much attention for its elliptical design inspired by the shape of the frontal lobe of the human brain as it is for its function. It is the first institution in the world to focus on leveraging scientifically validated programs and assessments in order to maximize and extend brain performance, increase brain resilience and improve brain regeneration for people of all ages and conditions.

Page also participated in the global celebration of the 1M SF RagingWire Data Center, which is the result of a collaborative and innovative hybrid project delivery model in which the client/owner participated in the design process and served as construction general contractor. A project that also successfully delivered extensive architecture and engineering collaboration was Quarry Run Regional Operations Center, a unique first responder facility. It supports the county sheriff, municipal police and fire departments as well as surrounding counties with emergency operations, a public safety answering point and administrative functions.  

A science and technology-based government project that opened to acclaim is the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. It provides medical examiner and crime lab services to one of the largest counties in the US as well as an academic training environment for the forensic sciences field. Page also is receiving attention for its leadership in the Texas Capitol Complex Master Plan which broke ground earlier this year. The project will relocate satellite state offices to the Capitol Complex and create a visitor destination that is both educational and entertaining.

A significant healthcare project (see gallery image) that opened is the Houston Methodist - The Woodlands community hospital for which for which Page provided full services from design and engineering to furnishings and art. Additionally, the Children’s Health Sports Medicine Health and Wellness Complex celebrated its topping out. This premier pediatric campus will serve the highest concentration of competitive student athletes in the country and function as a model for future juvenile orthopedic facilities nationwide.

Three luxury multifamily residences around the US reached significant milestones in 2017. The ground breaking of the 45-story emerald green glass Fountain Place Residences means the original Pei Cobb Freed Fountain Place Master Plan soon will be complete with a harmonious design to the renowned office tower that will sustain downtown Dallas’s transformation with ground-floor amenities. 70 Rainey, which recently celebrated its first residential level concrete pour, boasts an unusual torqued design that will provide each of its 164 condos with panoramic views of the Colorado River and Austin skyline. And, The Signet in McLean, VA, a walkable mixed-use project is designed to raise the bar on condominium living in close proximity to several major job centers.
