Page Principal Andy Baxter is in Chicago for the 2018 ASHRAE Winter Conference where he will meet with two committees and attend seminars on new technologies for data centers. The conference’s technical program focuses on standards, fundamentals and applications, systems and equipment. This year’s highlights include industry trends in resiliency and modeling throughout a building’s life cycle.

Andy is part of the Standards Committee – SSPC 90.4 - Energy Standard for Data Centers and Telecommunications Buildings and notes that the group is working toward trying to get the standard more widely adopted by jurisdictions and government agencies so it can be used for data center designs in lieu of the older 90.1 standard.

He is also on the Technical Committee TC 9.9 - Mission Critical Facilities, Data Centers, Technology Spaces and Electronic Equipment. “We continue to try to work on the education of the industry on the design and operations of data centers in an energy efficient but also reliable and resilient way,” notes Andy.
