Page Helps Celebrate the Groundbreaking of UCCS Village at Alpine Valley

With Pike’s Peak providing a dramatic backdrop, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs celebrated the groundbreaking for a new student housing village on April 25. The Village at Alpine Valley complex has been designed to be the new social hub for the campus, providing student services and hosting the full range of events planned for the Village at Alpine Valley. The project is part of a strategy to accommodate future enrollment growth at UCCS, which is one of the fastest growing campuses in Colorado. Page team members were on hand to help get the project off to a good start!

New construction at the Village, which will be completed in two phases, will create a gateway plaza with an expanded pedestrian mall and embody the “living-learning” educational philosophy of the institution. The Village will include three new residence halls planned with multi-use classrooms and a student services component, along with a new 1,300-car parking garage. The project scope also includes new site work and landscaping around the three existing Alpine village residence halls, integrating them with the new construction to create a unified precinct.  The first phase, scheduled to open in Aug. 2015, will include residences for 292 students, a new dining hall and additional academic programming areas. A second phase, scheduled to open in Aug. 2016, will provide residences for 223 more students.

The 36,269-square-foot Roaring Fork Dining Facility will serve the catering and baking needs for the whole campus and feature multiple venues, a retail space, and a large multipurpose room in addition to the dining and kitchen areas. The dining area will seat approximately 450 patrons with an additional 50 seats on the south-facing second level terrace. The hybrid dining/marketplace will include a scratch bakery, full catering kitchen, an exhibition-oriented venue, and a multi-purpose event venue/rental facility.

Page is providing master planning, programming and architecture for the design-build project, which is targeting LEED Gold certification. Kiewit is the contractor.
