New Women, Children's Hospital to Serve Austin

Texas Children’s Hospital, one of the top-ranked hospitals in America providing pediatric and maternal-fetal care, announced plans to build a $450 million freestanding children's and women’s hospital in Austin. Our team is providing project management, programming, master planning, architecture and interior design services for the hospital.

Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2023, the 48-bed, 360,000-square-foot  hospital will have neonatal intensive care; pediatric intensive care, operating rooms, an epilepsy monitoring unit, a sleep center, an emergency center, diagnostic imaging, acute care, an on-site Texas Children's Urgent Care location and labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. Pediatric subspecialties that will be offered include heart, cancer, brain, lung, gastroenterology and rheumatology care.

Kregg Elsass, Director of Healthcare in Page’s Austin office observed, “The eclectic and growing community of central Texas and Austin is ecstatic about having Texas Children’s Hospital in our community. As a firm that started in Austin 120 years ago, it is our privilege to be a part of bringing this exciting project to Austin. Our employees see this as a great benefit for their families.”

Our team has a longstanding relationship with Texas Children’s Hospital as we provided programming, architecture, interior design and sustainability services for the hospital system’s West Campus in Houston, which opened in 2010. Since that time, Page has designed all of the Texas Children’s Hospital facilities in Austin, including an Urgent Care and Welcome Center, Specialty Care clinics, and renovations to multiple primary care locations across the Austin area.

Kurt Neubek, Principal-in-Charge for the project, added, “Texas Children’s Hospital has already been providing outpatient services in Austin for more than two years. The recent announcement to provide these additional inpatient and outpatient services reflects the organization’s firm commitment to this community.”

Project partners include Civil and Environmental Consultants; Smith, Seckman Reid; Walter P. Moore; TBG Landscape Architects; and McCarthy Building Companies.
