New Pediatric After Hours Facility to Serve Austin

One of the largest pediatric hospitals in the US and ranked a Top Five children's hospital by US News & World Report, has opened its tenth pediatric urgent care clinic. This newest location in northwest Austin is the first outside of the greater Houston area and Page is pleased to have partnered with them again on this project.

This newest facility also was designed to meet the needs of children and adolescents. It provides care after hours and on weekends with an online "wait time" feature updated every five minutes that helps set parents' expectations.

Project Architect Rhona Vogt attended the ribbon cutting and came away with a palpable sense among both staff and project team members that they are making a difference. "The estimated population of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area is two million, yet the number of dedicated pediatric urgent care facilities open after hours is very limited. As a parent I know firsthand it always feels like children get sick at the most inopportune times so we're glad to be able to fill a need here."

The single-story brick-clad facility meets building design standards for the city of Austin and the Westgate retail center in which it stands, supporting a built environment of aesthetic and sustainable value, enhancing economic development efforts and promoting Austin’s unique character and natural environment. The interior is generously daylit by a bank of fixed windows flanking the doors and transoms overhead. The cheerful interior consists of full size cartoon murals in the waiting area as well as some clinical spaces.

Page provided architectural and engineering services on this project.
