Mueller Multifamily Residences Receive MHN Gold Award

Page is proud to announce that its Mueller multifamily residential project received the Gold Award for Low-rise Developments at the Multi-Housing News (MHN) Excellence Awards. Principals Talmadge Smith and Wendy Dunnam Tita traveled to New York City to accept the award.

The MHN Excellence Awards are one of the multifamily residential industry’s most prestigious honors. This year’s Gold and Silver winners were announced by the MHN editors on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

The five-story, 230,000 square foot multifamily AMLI residential project was envisioned as a cornerstone of the 700-acre Mueller mixed-use live/work/play development in east-central Austin. The complex offers 280 units comprised of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans.

It was designed to maximize energy efficiency and encourage a healthier living environment. Units were constructed with energy-efficient plumbing, appliances, electrical fixtures, HVAC and individual programmable thermostats. Occupants have access to more than 13 miles of hike and bike trails and views of Lake Park and downtown Austin.

The interior and exterior of the building are composed of a series of brightly colored volumes to create scale and reinforce the texture of the existing neighborhood buildings. Energetic colors were used in the design to reflect the city’s unique and vibrant culture. Keeping with the fabric of the community, the shared spaces feature artwork inspired by the historic 1943 bow-trussed Browning Hangar that stands at the edge of the property, which was once the site of the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport.
