Kelsey-Seybold Clinic to expand main campus to enhance cancer care

One of Page's areas of specialty is healthcare, which is evident by all the related projects it has designed across the industry from specialty clinics to full-service hospitals. Houston Business Journal reports on one of the latest Page healthcare projects in the Houston market, one of the most competitive in the nation due to the presence of the Texas Medical Center and the size of the population.

According to Oliva Pulsinelli, web producer for the Houston Business Journal, Houston-based Kelsey-Seybold Clinic will spend $30 million to expand its main campus, part of a nearly $200 million capital investment the company will make in the Houston area by 2015.

The Linbeck Group LLC is the general contractor, and architecture firm Page designed the project. Both are based in Houston.

The 48,000-square-foot expansion will allow Kelsey-Seybold to enhance its cancer care. It will house the Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center, including a new radiation therapy center, a new PET CT suite, an expanded area for hematology and oncology, and an expanded infusion center.

The expansion, which is expected to be complete in the spring of 2015, will also include executive health services, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery services, and neurological services.

“The new services that will be offered will complement our current amenities and will help us meet the increased demand from our patients,” Brinda Springfield, director of ambulatory care operation, said in a statement. “These new additions will truly build on the cohesiveness of our current offerings.”

The main campus, at 2727 West Holcombe Blvd., will still have parking, valet service and pickup and drop-off access available during construction. However, patients are encouraged to allow 15 extra minutes for parking and checking in for their appointments.

Also as part of its $200 million capital investment, Kelsey-Seybold is  doubling its footprint in the Woodlands by building an additional $30 million facility.
