James Wright Appointed Chair of AIA International Practice Committee Advisory Group

James M. Wright, AIA, Senior Principal in the Washington, DC office, has been named Chair of the International Practice Committee Advisory Group of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). James has also been appointed as Vice President of the AIA International Region Task Group.

As Page Principal, James has helped build the Washington, DC office into a highly successful practice that has delivered not only notable private sector projects, but also, significantly, 25 U.S. embassy / consular compounds around the world for the Department of State – including the new U.S. embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, is be one of the largest U.S. embassy compounds in the world.

In 36 years of practice James has led the design of over $3 billion of building construction in the U.S. and 38 other countries. In the course of pursuing and delivering design services internationally James has weathered difficult and dangerous political environments (Beirut, Sana’a, San Salvador, Khartoum, Djibouti, Abuja) along with a range of opportunities in otherwise exotic, widely diverse locales (Pago Pago, Saigon, Bandar Seri Begawan, Vientiane, Luxembourg City).  To each project setting he has imported a great sensitivity to the local culture and traditions, strongly reflected in the building designs he has contributed along the way.

James also serves as the President for the firm’s two international subsidiaries: Page Southerland Page International, Ltd. and Page Southerland Page International, L.L.C.
