It’s Official: Cucharas, La Plata and Roaring Fork Dedicated

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) dignitaries and representatives from Page gathered to celebrate the opening of Cucharas and La Plata residence halls and the Roaring Fork dining hall at the UCCS Village at Alpine Valley. Summer storms delayed previous plans for festivities, but there was nothing but sunshine during the recent dedication ceremony for the newest additions.

University representatives dedicated the spaces in which 292 students will live and eat, increasing the number to 1,417 students who now live on campus. Construction crews worked overtime to complete the 211,210-square-foot project in time for students to move in.

Page designed the facility around a Colorado River theme, which featured artist designed colored terrazzo floor finishes and symbols of the state’s terrain, history and wildlife in the dining hall. Each of the residence halls, as well as the dining hall, were named after Colorado tributaries.

“I never grow tired of the continuous invention of the future,” Pam Shockley-Zalabak, University of Colorado’s chancellor, said. “This time, by creating first-class residential facilities for our students.”
