Irreconcilable Differences Resolved: United States Courthouse, Austin

Texas Architect Magazine has featured the new Austin federal courthouse on the cover of their May/June issue. PageSoutherlandPage, working with Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects as the Prime, provided Architectural Design Input, MEP and Civil Engineering design services for the $123M pending LEED Silver federal courthouse.  

Mack Scogin of Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects had complimentary words for PageSoutherlandPage Principal Larry Speck, saying that Mack and Merrill were selected for the project in part because Speck agreed to be part of their design team. His experience includes working as the former dean at The University of Texas School of Architecture as well as his commercial expertise with Page. 

The Austin federal courthouse backstory is an interesting one, spanning ten unexpected years and resulting in an eight-story 252,420-sf structure.
