Included In Senior Housing Architecture & Design Awards

Senior Housing News (SHN) has announced the winners of its annual Architecture & Design Awards competition, which recognizes excellence by celebrating projects that improve the lives of seniors through innovative design. More than 90 communities across the United States submitted their projects for consideration and Page is pleased its first of several projects for Adora was recognized in the Skilled Nursing – Post Acute category.

SHN Publisher and Founder George Yedinak said, "“This year’s group of entries has been the strongest it has ever been and it is exciting to look to the future of senior housing through the lens of the awards program. Many of the current and future trends in architecture and design for  senior living are evident.” From the more than 90 organizations that entered their communities in this year’s competition, only nine projects were selected for their unique approaches to senior living design. The competition evaluates communities through a scoring system that looks at various categories including design elements specific to each project type, community integration, amenities and lifestyle features.

Page has designed Adora-branded transitional healthcare and assisted living projects for OnPointe in Dallas which, combined, will ultimately house 158 rehabilitation patients and 61 residents in assisted living. The Adora Midtown center provides Skilled Nursing rehabilitative environments for short-term ‘guests’ and Assisted Living accommodations for long-term ‘residents’. Each Assisted Living floor was designed to create a neighborhood with private rooms, interactive social spaces and small group dining for a tight communal bond.

The main lobbies in the Adora facilities provide a relaxing atmosphere with a casual seating area by the fireplaces, a walk-up bistro for quick bites, lighted artwork and a concierge desk for guest services and current events. A few steps away from each lobby is an open restaurant to allow guests and residents to mingle with each other and to provide a private space for visiting families to celebrate a special day. Front and center are the Chef’s demonstration station to encourage healthy eating in a cooking class atmosphere. A therapy spa, fitness center and outdoor courtyard all promote healthy living and social interaction. 

While the exterior architecture of the facilities draw from contemporary styles, the individual designs are complementary to their neighborhoods. Adora Midtown is located in North Dallas, a short distance from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. The new three-story building is nestled in the up and coming Midtown Park development for work, live, play - and now healing places. Its smooth, light-colored monolithic stucco walls, large windows and flat roofs are reflective of the technological advances the area is known for. The interior architecture features a cool color palette in the carpeting and walls with accents of granite, decorative pendant light fixtures and a splash of colors in the furniture fabrics and artwork.

The 77,000 square foot Adora Midtown center began providing state-of-the-art healing environments for 108 people when it opened in the summer of 2017.
