Honor Award from ASLA: Texas Capitol Complex Master Plan

Award-winning collaborative projects are great examples of the saying, "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts." Page and Sasaki have demonstrated that with their project Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) 2016 Texas Capitol Complex Master Plan. Two urban designers from both firms jointly accepted an Honor Award for the project in the Analysis & Planning category at the recent American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) conference.

Katharyn Hurd, Page Urban Designer and Mary Anne Ocampo, Sasaki Urban Designer, are both members of the TFC project team, which developed a master plan to establish a 40-block area around the Capitol Complex as a destination that celebrates the Texas State Capitol with civic spaces, shaded pedestrian-friendly streets and connections to the surrounding community.

ASLA selected its 38 award recipients from 465 entries in 2017. The awards recognize the best of landscape architecture in the general design, analysis and planning, communications, research, and residential design categories from the United States and around the world.
