Education Building at ACC Round Rock Breaks Ground

The new education building at the Austin Community College (ACC) Round Rock campus broke ground this week. In attendance were Pagers Daniel Brooks, Franklyn King and Jennifer Woods.

The building, which is three-stories and 45,000 square feet, will be the new gateway to the campus and features a 12,000-square foot learning lab, classrooms, faculty offices and various informal learning and gathering spaces.

Sited along the campus mall, students enter the building via a plaza marked by wide stairs and native plants designed by Co’Design Landscape Architecture. A large social stair welcomes students, faculty and staff into the building lobby. The Accelerator, an interdisciplinary study and technology learning lab, occupies most of the ground floor and looks out onto the mall through its window wall. The upper floors are organized around a flexible corridor with areas for socialization and studying. Natural light floods the central building stair via a roof monitor.

Page is the design architect for the Phase II campus expansion, which includes the new education building, renovations in existing campus buildings, upgrades to central utilities and a new 300-space parking lot.
