Professional Engineers, or PE, must first pass a Fundamentals of Engineering exam after graduating from college with a related degree, then complete four years of progressive engineering experience under a licensed PE. Then, they may take a Principals and Practice of Engineering exam to become licensed themselves.
RID indicates a professional is a Registered Interior Designer and their first priorities are public health, safety and welfare (HSW). NCIDQ Certificate holders and licensed interior designers are trained to create spaces that meet local, state and provincial building codes and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act - as well as the needs of the intended user.
AIA stands for American Institute of Architects and indicates that a designer has worked underneath a supervising architect, passed their examinations, become registered and joined the AIA. This too requires a related college degree.

This is administered by the IFC (International Finance Corporation), a member of the World Bank Group.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world, which provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. There are several different types of LEED accreditation, starting with Green Associate which requires passing an exam that measures knowledge of green building practices and how to support others working on LEED projects.
Accreditation as a LEED AP with specialty is an advanced credential for LEED Green Associates. The exam for BD+C (Building Design + Construction) affirms expertise in the design and construction phases of green buildings, serving commercial, residential, education and healthcare sectors.
