Color Bursting: Page Architect Recognized for Art

Houston Arts Alliance has identified seven local artists who have leveraged grants to "make magic". These individuals and the works for which they are being recognized were covered by PaperCity Magazine. Page Senior Associate / Senior Project Architect Tami Merrick is one of the seven being acknowledged.

She and co-collaborator Nicola Parente spent three years working on a piece that incorporates community activation. Entitled Color Bursting Hermann Park, the public art piece sited near McGovern Centennial Gardens attires the trees with skirts woven from painted bands of plastic crafted by Parente and Merrick in an ode to the skirts of Degas’ dancers. The work also references the target paintings of American master Kenneth Noland. To learn more about the work, click here. 

Tami has previously been recognized for her artistic contributions to the city of Houston. Most recently she collaborated with another artist on a three-dimensional piece displayed at the George R. Brown Convention Center that celebrates Houston’s urban context, economic, commercial, and cultural diversity while promoting the city and convention center as a sustainable and livable city center.  She also was one of ten artists invitated to facilitate the national organization Artist INC’s launch of its Houston program, with support from the city of Houston.
