2018 Recap: Giving Back

The holidays mark a time of giving and celebration of community.

This year, we put our design skills on display for charity through CANstruction, donating more than 3,800 cans to the Washington DC Capital Area Food Bank in the process. As part of manufacturer Herman Miller’s We Care, we spent a day doing holiday crafts with children at Houston’s Boys & Girls Club. Our offices also organized warm coat, toy and book drives for children, collected donations for Meals on Wheels senior citizen gift bags and participated in the Adopt-A-Family program.

Throughout 2018, Pagers donated their time to local community and professional organizations. We supported local charities through our participation in the annual Carry The Load Memorial Walk, Houston’s East End Foundation piñata festival and the March of Dimes March for Babies. Pagers also really enjoyed transforming urban streets during PARKing Day, building sandcastles in support of sustainability and talking to girls about STEM careers in support of We Are Girls.

We're proud of the number of Pagers who served in professional association leadership roles this year. Our contributions to AIA range across 18 unique committees at local, regional and national levels. Many of our offices are active in the Women in Architecture Committees and organized, participated in, and sponsored events supporting leadership and equity in Austin, Houston and Dallas. Pagers created a new architectural leadership collective promoting diversity that graduated its first class this year.

Education was one of our focuses and all Pagers—from our engineers to our graphic designers— publicly shared why the work we do is vital to communities. Be it at career fairs, in the classroom, in our offices, or at public art installations, Pagers were out there participating in and supporting our communities while also explaining the value of architecture, engineering and design.
