1980s-Inspired Volleyball Tournament

Pagers had a blast at the recent FMG/Haworth’s 5th Annual Party winning fifth place in the volleyball tournament. The 80’s Addition! competition took place on a Saturday with 15 teams participating. The event benefited the Austin Area Food Bank.

Pager Bob Stapleton summed up the day: “We rallied our rag tag team together only days before the event, but after some focused practice with just minutes to spare our team quickly coalesced into a force to be reckoned with. Dressed in black with our ‘80s Page-red headbands and with our veteran anchor and “ringer” Mika Shorter to guide us, we handedly won our first two games in the sweltering Texas heat. But as the teams funneled down to the best of the best, we narrowly conceded victory to two other teams that bested our resolve in a double-elimination match, one of which in overtime 16-14. We finished 5th out of 15 teams but left proud of our performance and vow to be back next year to claim that 1st place prize we won 5 years ago for their premier event.”
